The Annual District Troop  Winter Camp  was held at Camp Wirribara in early March of 2005 on a perfect (weather-wise) weekend.  The Scouts hiked in the 8 kms (or if they arrived late we hiked out).  The Camp was based on the Survivor Theme and the Scouts were split into two teams for the special challenges that were set up.  Everything went off with out a hitch and a good time was enjoyed by all of the participants.

On the first day we had to build our shelters Some Troops opted for a snow trench style of shelter while others built quinzees The Next Morning the Survival Challenges began with the litter carry.
The next challenge was build a catapult and hit the target (A Venturer of course) An obstacle course was the next event. It only seemed fair that the Venturers would have to do it blind folded.
The fire challenge was next. It didn't take long to get a good flame going even with the supplied flint and steel starter. The Pirates of the Long Log was next and offered plenty of action and laughs.
An Advisor's dream.  A couple of whacks at a Venturer. The dog sled race was next. If this won't wear them out nothing will.
The log rolling challenge was the last event. The cooks were always smiling, but we're not sure why.  Great job and great food, though Somebody thought that the quinzee might collapse, but this changed their mind
It was a tight squeeze getting in and out. But once you were in, it was quite comfy. Those Venturers-Always partying!
Those Venturers-They never want to get up. Another load of satisfied Scouts on their ride home. Just a little shut eye and I'll be ready to go in a minute!
