On March 2nd through the 4th we attended the District Winter Camp at a site that we have used previously on Songis Road.  This year we decided to do a working camp, which had the Scouts construct their own shelters and stay in them for the two nights and prepare all their meals outdoors during the duration.  The weather gods smiled on us this weekend and the weather was almost perfect.

When we arrived we started to set up camp.  2nd Trout Mills/1st North Bay built a lean-to,
To put their gear in.
They managed to scrape together enough snow to build a quinzee.
and almost enough enough to build another.
Third Widdifield  built a lean-to shelter big enough to house their whole troop.
Everyone built their own kitchen facility complete with a tarp roof and much needed drying areas
Ferris definately got the "Taj Mahal" award for their kitchen shelter
They even constructed a square quinzee to try and maximize the largest sleeping area with the small amount of snow we had this year.
Scouter Gord brought his home made teepee
Opening ceremonies was held on Saturday Morning along the trail at the widest area that we could find.
