Our Sections
|
We are the West Ferris Scouting Group of North Bay, Ontario, Canada and our charter has been in existence since 1937. Our group consists of sections from Beavers right through to Rovers.

We have the privilege of living in the "Gateway to the North" so the outdoors is right at our doorstep and we try to take full advantage of that fact. We own a camp on Timber Lake that is next to miles of crown land, so that we have lots of room to hike, toboggan and learn outdoor skills.

In our Beaver Colony, we learn how to share and work together. We follow the Scout's Canada guide lines and learn how to express ourselves, live healthy and have good feelings about ourselves. The Beavers are 5 to 7 year old youth (boys and girls) who enjoy having FUN through games, songs, crafts, outdoor activities and much more. The Beaver program is based on friendship; sharing and non-competitive activities which help the youth build confidence in themselves and prepare them for their future.

Our Cub Pack is outdoors oriented and stresses that hard work will earn you badges and the respect of your peers. We strive to learn how to do our best, make the right choices, keep fit, and develop a sense of caring and trust.

| Scout Troop is probably the best years in Scouting as more responsibilities are granted. One of our favourite events is the annual Scout Truck Races that we usually do quite well in as a group. We also spend as much time as possible in the outdoors Geocaching, canoeing and camping (we do a winter camp every year) . |

| In Venturer Company and Rover Crew we play the role as a service team and help out with the Kub Kar and Truck Rodeo Races, as well as the annual Winter Scout Camp and other local District Events. Camping, canoeing, and Geocaching fill in the gaps. Oh yeah, we also learn how to party! |

| The Mattawa River is close by and offers a very exiting whitewater experience for the Scouts, Venturers and Rovers. |
 |
|
|
Our Sponsoring Group
is the
Knights of
Columbus. They are always
willing to help us out with our fundraising and they are always there to
lend a hand when needed.
